A quick update via iPhone. Sitting in the living room listening to Snakes sending a “supposedly pythons are a problem” text message to his sister. Blood diamonds, oil barons, machetes. We leave in February for Luanda, Angola.

  1. Your flag. Has a machete on it. *high fives* I know nothing about Angola aside from that (cuz I definitely spent yesterday studying flags), but I hope this winds up being a wonderful adventure for you both, and that the pythons don’t get you. 🙂

  2. Wow! Congratulations. That sounds like an interesting post! Tell us more when you can! How do you feel about it? Will you be learning Portuguese?

  3. Congrats! We have friends from my husband’s Specialist class that are departing for Luanda early July. If you email me offline I will put you in touch with them. Surely you will get to know them once you are there but it would be great I think to have a connection beforehand. I am going to share your blog address with my friends too.

    Good luck!

  4. was just reading up on Angola on talesmag….great beaches, vibrant nightlife, close-knit expat community..who knew? I really hope this was one of your highs. Tell us more!

  5. Love, love, love your posts. I can just hear you talking and I feel like I’m right there. Don’t be too hard on yourself, all of this has been a whirlwind and you two have been through quite a bit in such a short period of time. You’re resilient, adventurers with much to offer where ever you go. You have done much and with great aplomb. Luandans don’t know what they’re missing until you two get there.

  6. Awesome! Are you guys excited about it? I’m excited on your behalf! =) Lots of really great regional travel opportunities too, I’d imagine.

  7. I keep waiting for the follow-up where you talk about how excited (?) You are for the adventure (or some other glass is half full revelation). But it doesn’t come, which makes me worry. Its going to be great, if for nothing else than the leverage you’ll have for post #2.
